Button - Fish Skin-Like Fabric

What does the sensor do?

It can be used as a on-off buttons. Resting state: circuit open ; push down: circuit close.

How it works?

The coated fabric surface is conductive - so when two electrods are placed beneath it, it can be used to sense whether it is connected by coated fabrics (whether the fabric is pushed down). And the fish skin-like fabric can always return to its original shape (unconnected) when the pushing force is removed.

You will need:

• carbon black ink and polyurethane
• fish skin-like fabric
• conductive silver fabric

Sensor structure & Fabrication steps

• Laser cut fish skin-like fabrics.
• Dip-coat fabrics with carbon black ink and then polyurethane.
• Connect with silver fabric segments.
